On Friday, February 3rd, the Sarnia Sting hosted the annual Talk Today Game Day!
Talk Today is a program designed by the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA) and is one of the most comprehensive mental health/sport-related programs in Canada. Its aim is to promote the mental health of young athletes and to spread awareness about the benefits of positive mental health throughout communities across the country. Originally launched in 2014, interest in Talk Today has grown steadily both within and outside the realm of sports.
A key piece of the Talk Today program has been to educate players about mental health and suicide prevention. Every team has received mental health training specific to suicide prevention. Each team is also now linked to a CMHA Mental Health Coach, who provides support and mental health resources to individuals in need.
Thank you to the Sarnia Sting for an incredible Talk Today mental health awareness game and to Syngenta Canada and Grain Farmers of Ontario for their sponsorship.
